Each year in the United States, workplace violence causes businesses to lose an average of $250 – $330 billion, and there are approximately 2 million victims. There have been numerous cases where victims and their families have taken property owners and operators to court for damages, as seen with the 2012 Aurora movie theater shooting, 2017 Mandalay Bay hotel shooting, and the most recent 2023 shooting in a dance studio in Monterey Park.
